Andrea “Andi” Johnson is executive director of the Construction & Demolition Recycling Association (CDRA). Her early career included more than two decades supporting U.S. Army families while traveling globally as a military spouse. During that time, she earned multiple accolades for her work with military families and twice received the Department of the Army’s Public Service Commendation. It was during assignments in Central Europe and Scandinavia that she developed her passion for recycling. Leaving the military service in 2012, she joined van der Linde Recycling and Container Rentals in Troy, Virginia.

Andi began in sales and expanded into logistics, fleet management and operations, earning a Virginia state waste license in 2013. She later served as chief operating officer and chief executive officer, leading major operational upgrades, improving health and safety standards, transforming fleet management, expanding recycling services, overseeing facility development and much more.

In 2021, she was appointed to the CDRA Board of Directors. In February 2025, she became chief operating officer of CDRA and was promoted to executive director in July 2025, where she works diligently to expand awareness and understanding about the importance of diverting construction and demolition material from landfills.
