Executive Vice President - Energy, Renewables, and Waste, Comerica Bank

Joe Ursuy serves as executive vice president, national businesses for energy, renewables and waste at Comerica Bank. He most recently was senior vice president, department manager – environmental services, a department he was instrumental in establishing within Comerica’s commercial banking divisions.

Joe’s commercial lending team extends throughout Comerica’s footprint, including Michigan, Texas and California, managing multibillion dollars in total assets. His responsibilities include managing high growth through exceptional talent management, asset quality and strategic client selection. Clients include waste management, recycling and energy businesses across the United States and Canada.

In May 2022, Comerica expanded its Environmental Services Department with the launch of the Renewable Energy Solutions Group, dedicated to supporting and growing the bank’s renewable energy business.

Under Joe’s leadership, Comerica’s environmental services team supports a national platform focused on profitably growing its commercial loan assets, involving key internal partners and serving as trusted advisors through extensive industry knowledge coupled with a relationship banking approach.

Before founding the Environmental Services Group in 2006, Joe held several positions in Comerica’s Middle Market Banking Department after starting as a credit analyst in 1998. The 27-year financial services veteran also serves on Comerica’s Michigan Leadership Team.

Joe earned a Bachelor of Business Administration degree in economics from Northwood University and an MBA from the University of Detroit Mercy. He also completed leadership training at the Center for Creative Leadership in Colorado Springs, Colorado.

He serves on the board of the Environmental Research & Education Foundation, based in Raleigh, North Carolina, and is a frequent guest speaker at industry events. Joe and his team regularly volunteer with several Detroit-area charities. He lives in Oakland Township, Michigan, with his wife, Natasha, and their two sons, Austin and Jonathan.
