Michelle Mountjoy has been with the Division of Materials and Waste Management at the Ohio Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) for 17 years. She currently serves as the division’s rules coordinator, specializing in regulatory program development and stakeholder engagement. Michelle is a liaison between the division and industry waste management associations, increasing collaboration and directing strategic planning of joint regulatory initiatives.

In 2022, Michelle was part of the team that developed Ohio’s first regulations for construction and demolition (C&D) debris processing facilities. The rules ensure statewide uniform and consistent practices for the processing, transferring and recycling of C&D debris, leading to an overall reduction in the environmental impact associated with disposal. She and her team at Ohio EPA continue to work toward innovative ways to increase diversion rates and promote recycling.
