Richard Ludt is the director of environmental affairs for Interior Removal Specialist Inc. (IRS Demo), a fully integrated demolition contractor that also operates the only RCI-certified construction and demolition (C&D) facility in Southern California.

With nearly 25 years of experience, Richard is responsible for ensuring compliance with California’s heavily regulated C&D recycling requirements, as well as all permitting and legislative issues. He has worked with the California Department of General Services to write building code and is currently involved in legislation aimed at increasing transparency in California’s C&D industry.

Richard served for 12 years as the corporate director for recycling and material recovery on the board of the Solid Waste Association of North America, as well as six years on the board of the U.S. Green Building Council Los Angeles. He currently chairs the legislative committee for the Construction & Demolition Recycling Association, where he also serves on the board.
